Herbert Protocol- Have you signed up?

Yesterday (Thursday 14 May 2026) Officers attended an Alzheimer’s Society event at the NNUH, speaking with visitors and staff about the Herbert Protocol and the Safe and Found Online portal- both designed to help protect people living with dementia.

The Herbert Protocol is a simple form that carers, family, and friends can complete with key information about someone living with dementia. If they go missing, this can help officers locate them quickly and safely.

Filling it out online means you can:

Update information anytime

Add photos and key identifiers

Provide information accessible to police forces across the UK- especially important if someone goes missing away from home

Completing the online version, even if you’ve already filled out a paper form, can make all the difference in an emergency.

As we approach Dementia Action Week (18-24 May), we encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete it and help keep your loved ones safe.
