Fraud callers alert |

Since Saturday (14th March), we have received 17 reports that fraudsters have called residents in the district, primarily in Ormesby, Scratby and Hemsby, claiming to be officers from the safer neighbourhood team in order to scam the victim out of money.
There has been one instance of money successfully being taken by the fraudsters, with the other attempts being unsuccessful.
Unlike previous scams where the person calling claims to be from a police station elsewhere in the country, these scammers are impersonating local police officers.
If you receive a call from an officer and wish to check their identity, we advise hanging up and calling 101- ideally from a different phone. An officer will never mind waiting for you to check their identity via the control room.
⚠️ Your bank or the police will NEVER ask for your PIN, bank card or bank account details over the phone. Never share these details with anyone. ⚠️
