Fraud Advice

Hello Resident

This is our regular reminder that police officers will never ask you for money – in any form.

It’s after someone in Attleborough fell victim to a fraud earlier this week when they bought £1500 of gift cards for the scammer who pretended to be a police officer. In this case they didn’t meet the offender but sent them the gift card codes digitally. We’ve also had instances in the past where people are asked to withdraw cash or exchange money that is then handed directly to a courier.

Please do let all your friends and family know that this is not something police officers or bank staff will ever ask you to do. These scammers use every trick they know to persuade you that they are legitimate so if you are ever asked to do something like this please hang up – wait until the line has definitely cleared and then call us on 999 or 101.
