Community Resolution

Hi Resident

Back in January we became aware of graffiti that appeared around Poringland and worked closely with the parish council to tackle the issue. After conducting enquiries, collaborating with partner agencies and using localised knowledge, Beat Manager PC Goodrum was able to identify four teens who all admitted to the damage.

Incidents like this are often dealt with by way of community resolutions (CRs), as we've found it often more effective than criminalising youths who've just made a silly one-off mistake. The parish council agreed to them completing unpaid work over the last few weeks as their CRs, either litter picking or painting the railings near the council offices/police station.
